How to create great blog posts!

Although there are lots of benefits to blogging, a poorly written blog can reflect badly on your business. If your blog is filled with lots of spelling mistakes and irrelevant content, then it will not look good on you or your business.

So what do you need to know, in order to create a great blog?

Plan what you are going to write about

There is no point taking time out of your schedule to write an irrelevant blog about hair trends when you are an up and coming nail bar. Nor is it a good idea to use the blog as a personal diary.

Have practical key word rich titles

Describe exactly what the post is about. Do not waste time coming up with witty or funny blog titles because Google will take no notice. You need to ensure that your blog titles and even headings and subheadings are SEO safe. If you are unsure what to call your blog, think about what you would type into Google’s search bar to find out about this topic. Whenever a person uses a search engine they are essentially looking for the answer to a question. So if your post is about heart nail designs or the latest green hair die, then your blog and title should be based around the question your prospective clients are looking for. In both of these cases, I would title my blog posts; “Valentine’s day nail ideas” and “Latest green hair trends”. These titles are both keyword rich and self-explanatory.

Your blog should be easy to read

A blog post is best presented in small chunks. In our busy society, most people find it easier to scan read an article.

Your blog must contain useful and relevant content

If people find your articles useful they will come back for more. Think about why you read blog articles and apply this to your own blog. If you wouldn’t want to read it, who else would?

Update your blog regularly

This is quite a common problem so try to pencil in time for content writing. It is easy to forget about your website and its content, but you shouldn’t. Your blog is a great SEO tool and will allow you to move up Google rankings. Where possible try to put time aside each week for blogging and blog promotion.

Get someone to proof read your blog before you publish

One of the best ways to ensure that you are posting good quality content is to ask someone to proof read your work before you post it. We all miss the odd spelling mistake or comma ever now and then. We are only human.

So if you are thinking about starting a blog we would recommend that you are realistic with your time. You need to ensure that you have the time to create useful and beneficial content for your readers. You also need to be aware of who your target audience is and how you will promote your work.
