With Halloween, Firework Night and autumn festivities just out of the way, there is no time like the present to throw yourself into your salons Christmas promotions. Year on year, the festive season proves to be a huge money maker for many salons, but you need to be prepared for the January slump too. Here are a few dynamic ideas to boost sales and prepare for the winter blues.
Ambience is everything when it comes to a client remembering your salon. Especially during the Christmas period and into the New Year, you must wow your client and make sure that they feel special. Decorate your salon with Christmas decorations. Offer a mince pie and mulled wine to your clients and make your salon the warmest and most welcoming salon in the area.
January is always a depressing and slow month for everybody and we all know that salon sales dwindle off until the Valentine’s Day period. A good way to increase custom in January is to create a ‘new-year return’ voucher/coupon. Hand these out to clients in December when they come to pay for their Christmas treatments, offering them money off their next treatment valid until 31st January. This is sure to put a spring in the step of your customers and you should see a good return on investment by getting a few extra’s through the door at the start of the New Year.
Host an Event
The best way to get new clients in your salon is to network. So instead of attending boring and time consuming events, why not set up your own January Pick Me Up event. Invite your existing clients for a “client loyalty night” and ask them to bring a friend. Offer some light refreshments and maybe a free mini treatment. Set up tables of products, promotions and book people in for treatments.
New Year New Me
Unlike the hair and beauty industry that see a huge dip in turnover in January, the health and fitness industry practically takes over our lives come January. Capitalise on this by adding and advertising weight loss or cosmetic treatments at your salon. My local salon really push their Flabelos machine and weight loss wraps in January and this seems to work really well for them.
Social Media & Marketing
Finally, while January may not be your most successful month of the year, why not capitalise on the extra time by concentrating on your social media and marketing campaigns for the following 6 months? There are great free tools out there that will allow you to write content which can be posted on Social Media months ahead of time.
